“Greenstar” Hard Disk Enclosure

21st June 2007 – Anyware Computer Accessories is pleased to announce the release of the Welland Greenstar 3.5” Hard Disk Drive Enclosure. By utilising environmentally-friendly power-management technology the Greenstar will shutdown your hard disk automatically when data transfer is complete so that it doesn’t spin idly. This results in decreased power consumption and also assists in prolonging the life of your hard drive.

The Greenstar contains an in-built automatic power management processor and is bundled with power-management software which allows the user to maximize efficiency and minimize power wastage.

The Greenstar features three modes of power management; idle, suspend and power down (auto-switching):

• Idle mode; hard drive is waiting for read/write commands from the system. 80% power consumption.
• Suspend mode; hard drive activity is suspended. The hard drive is still alive but power consumption is only at 20%.
• Power down mode; the hard drive is shut down and there is no power to the hard drive. The only component consuming power is the control board. 7% power consumption.
